In this workshop, you can unleash your inner artist and bring your jewelry designs to life with the ancient technique of lost wax casting! In this class, you'll learn how to carve and create basic to intricate 3-dimensional designs out of wax, and cast them into stunning sterling silver or bronze pieces. You'll even get to craft your own unique ring or a jewelry piece of your choice! Discover how to cast and experience both centrifugal and vacuum machines. By the end of the class, you'll have gained your skills in wax carving, designing, casting, and then polishing and patinas.

Skills Learned:

- Carving wax to make a ring or pendant

- When to use an additive or subtractive technique for your wax designs

- Use of a wax pen and wax working tools

- How to sprue and invest your wax

- Metalsmithing tips for cleaning up cast pieces

- Polishing and patinas for finished metal piece

Prerequisites: No experience necessary. Class time includes the use of tools and equipment related to the techniques.

Materials: Silver or bronze casting grain is purchased separately. Projects are weighed after casting; students are responsible for the cost of the metal they use. Average silver cost $10 - $25 per piece.
