Simple Prong Ring Class

Do you want to showcase the beauty of a unique stone or found object? Consider using a prong setting! This approach allows light to shine through and keeps your piece lightweight. It also works well for unusual-shaped stones or objects, providing a great alternative to the bezel setting.

In this Intermediate Simple Prong Set Ring Class, students will create and solder a frame with prongs to hold a flat back round cabochon securely in place. This class is fun and challenging for those who have previous soldering experience and want to try their hand at prong setting and soldering wire.

Materials: Students may bring a flat-bottomed round stone or purchase one from our wide selection. Silver will be provided for the ring. Prerequisites: Intermediate. Students must be comfortable with soldering. The class time includes the use of tools and equipment related to the techniques. Material cost will be calculated at the end of class.
